STEVE WARINER ART GUITAR UP FOR AUCTION
NASHVILLE, TENN. A first-ever Guitars of the Stars Benefit Auction
to benefit the Opry Trust Fund was Friday, June 12, at the Ryman
Auditorium and gave fans in town for CMA Music Fest the unique opportunity
to bid on Epiphone acoustic guitars decorated by some of country
music's hottest stars as well as visual artists who are country
music fans, themselves.
CMA and GRAMMY award-winning singer, songwriter, and guitarist
Steve Wariner kicked off the event with a number from his upcoming
project, STEVE WARINER, C.G.P., MY TRIBUTE TO CHET ATKINS, followed
by the auction fun. The Opry star served as Celebrity Auctioneer,
and GAC-TV and 650 WSM radio personality Bill Cody was on hand as
emcee. The benefit will continue even after the live auction ends
Friday, as a guitar designed by Wariner plus guitars designed by
local visual artists will go up for bids at opry.com.
All proceeds from both the live auction and online auction benefit
the Opry Trust Fund, which has for more than 40 years assisted members
of the country music community in need of help with medical bills,
living expenses, utilities, rent, and food.

to support youth music education in the Nashville area.
"I'm happy to do this concert to benefit the Chet Atkins Music

to Chet. He believed, and so do I, that children should be introduced
to music at a young age, and that learning to play music has tremendous
educational and developmental benefits."

ROSS WARINER'S BAND KINDERCASTLE RELEASES ALBUM FOR
2009
Imagine if you forced Jeff Lynne of ELO and Jason Lytle of Grandaddy
to make a lush, string-laden, 70's pop album together,... at gunpoint.
It may be an uneasy partnership at first, but once they start digging
into the music something magical happens. It becomes fun. It gets
funky. They laugh a lot. The music grows full of life. That is exactly
the kind of enthusiastic sound Kindercastle has conjured up on their
new release "In a Tizzy," simultaneously daring and retro.
Ross Wariner and Cody Uhler are the writers and creators of Kindercastle.

STEVE WARINER ON NEW BRAD PAISLEY ALBUM SET FOR RELEASE
Sarah
Skate- 08/11/2008 Music Row Magazine
Brad Paisley will release a mostly instrumental album titled Play
on Nov. 4, also Election Day. The acclaimed guitarist, who won his
first GRAMMY Award earlier this year for Best Country Instrumental
Performance, has included only four vocal tracks on the 15-song project
to be released by Arista Nashville.
The reigning CMA Male Vocalist of the Year wrote or co-wrote 11
of the project's songs and recruited guitar titans B.B. King, Keith
Urban, Steve Wariner, and the late Buck Owens for appearances. King
joins in on "Let the Good Times Roll," while Urban helps with the
playful "Start a Band." "More Than Just This Song," written by Paisley
and Wariner, is a tribute to the guitar heroes who gave them their
start on the six-string. Paisley also completed Owens' self-penned
and previously unfinished track "Come on In" for the project. "Little"
Jimmy Dickens is in the comic "Pre-Cluster Cluster Pluck Prequel
(Prelude)," which sets the stage for the all-star guitar jam, "Cluster
Pluck," featuring guests James Burton, Vince Gill, John Jorgensen,
Albert Lee, Brent Mason, Redd Volkaert, and Steve Wariner. Among
other selections are the Les Paul salute "Les Is More," tributes
to his wife, "Kim," and son, "Huckleberry Jam," and an acoustic
performance of the gospel classic "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."
Since his 1999 debut album, Paisley has tallied sales of more than
ten million albums, and scored eleven No. 1 singles.

STEVE WARINER INTERVIEW ON CHET ATKINS
New feature! - "Working with Chet Atkins"
Misterguitar.com, the official website of Chet Atkins has added a new feature, a series of interviews with artists and producers who worked intimately with Chet. You'll find the first story, an interview with Grammy award winner Steve Wariner
here:
Most
fathers are thrilled when their kids come to their workplace for
a glimpse of ol'dad's world. In my case, it was definitely the other
way around.
We had seen our son Ryan, playing guitar with award winning singer/songwriter
Jewel on about every major T.V. show known to man, but had yet seen
them live. He'd been with her for a few months now so this called
for a road trip to the Queen city, Cincinnati, Ohio!
This trip was gonna be a win/win for me because Jewel was opening
for none other than Brad Paisley at River Bend Music Theatre. Now,
I've known Brad and his wonderful mom and dad for many years (we
won't go in to how many) and just think the world of them. Brad's
tour manager is my dear friend, Brent Long, who did the same for
me back in the day. Those high gas prices scared me but not enough
to keep me away from Cincy.
It was just fantastic watching Ryan go about his daily routine.
Everyone on the tour could not have been nicer. Caryn and I grabbed
empty seats out front for sound check. Even Ryan's check sounded
great! As the hot sun beat down, I found myself heading to the bus;
wait; I don't have a bus here! Oh well .
Soon people were filing in, filling up the seats. We strategically
perched ourselves at the guitar tech's station (thanks Chad and
Eric!) Perfect view. Right near Ryan. Jewel was marvelous, the band
was hot and Ryan's tone and playing were awesome!
I had not seen Brad play in quite some time. Ryan joined us at our "perch"
as we all enjoyed the show. It was fantastic! Later we visited Jewel
(she's lovely), told a little "dirt" on Ryan, visited, thanked Brad and Brent
and watched them head off to New York. Yep, our little boy has grown up!
(When he gets home I'm stealing some licks from him)! Am I a proud Pop or what?

STEVE WARINER INDUCTED INTO MUSIC CITY WALK OF FAME
BY GARTH BROOKS
Garth Brooks surprised Steve today by inducting him into the Music
City Walk of Fame. Unbeknownst to Steve, Garth flew into Nashville
and surprised his good friend at the Country Music Hall of Fame
& Museum, just minutes before the induction ceremony which took
place in Hall of Fame Park. Speaking of his friend, Garth said,
"Steve Wariner is going to go down in the history books of not just
country music, but all music," and also commented on Steve's humility
and how he'd be the last person to talk about his accomplishments.
He then presented Steve with his official Music City Walk of Fame
plaque and helped unveil Steve's star on the Walk of Fame. Other
luminaries inducted today include Kirk Whalum, inducted by prdoucer
Steve Buckingham; Steven Curtis Chapman, inducted by Dallas Holm;
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, inducted by producer/musician Randy Scruggs;
the late Merle Kilgore, inducted by booking agent Greg Oswald; and
Hank Williams, Sr., inducted by industry executive Tim DuBois. Watch
this space for the full story and more photos!
Created in the fall of 2006, the Music City Walk of Fame, on Nashville's
Music Mile, is a landmark tribute to those from all genres of music
who have made significant contributions to preserving the musical
heritage of Nashville and have contributed to the world through
song or other industry collaboration. With the induction of this
new class of honorees, there will be 24 total stars along the Walk
of Fame. A new brochure promoting the Walk of Fame is now available
in Visitors Centers, hotels and venues across the city.
Permanent sidewalk medallions made of stainless steel and terrazzo,
with each honoree's name displayed in a star-and-guitar design,
will be installed in the sidewalk along the Music Mile. The plaques
for this class of inductees will be inlaid in Hall of Fame Park
on Demonbreun, between 4th and 5th Avenues South.
Nominations were open to the public and accepted in the categories
of Artist, Musician, Songwriter, and Producer/Music Industry Executive.
Application forms were reviewed by the Music City Walk of Fame anonymous

GARTH AND STEVE PRESENTED ANGEL AWARD BY JDRF
On
May 24, 2006 Juvenile Diabetes Research Los Angeles Chapter honored
Garth Brooks with their distinguished Angel Award. Much to Steve's
surprise Garth had arranged for Steve to receive an Angel Award
as well. As usual, Garth wanted to surprise Steve so it was hush
hush from the start.
Garth had arranged with Steve's wife, Caryn, to get Steve to the
event with him and Trisha. Steve went under the presumption that
he was presenting the award to Garth and also playing with him that
night at the event. After the dinner portion of the event, Garth
was called up by recently retired Dodger, Todd Zeile, to accept
his award. Much to Steve's surprise after Garth made his speech
he called up Steve's stepdaughter, Holly, to give Steve his Angel
Award. Unaware of Holly's presence at the dinner, since she had
been hiding at a back table with her husband, Kevin Bonds. The look
on Steve's face was priceless as Holly walked out on the stage to
give a speech about Steve. He was then called up to accept his award
along with Garth. He was so shocked!
After the award presentation, Garth and Steve played Longneck
Bottle together on two guitars donated for the auction by each
of them. The winning bidder got the guitars that Steve and Garth
played on the event signed. After the beginning bids began Garth
took over getting the bidding higher by announcing he and Steve
would match the bids given for the guitars dollar for dollar. Two
people got into a bidding war for the guitars and they eventually
got over $150,000 for them. Two winning bidders each got their own
personal set of signed guitars plus Garth to sing two more Garth
songs. Steve played one and so did Garth. Then they called Trisha
up to sing Walk Away Joe for the crowd. In the audience were
many well-known actors and sports figures that came out to help
raise money.
The Angel Award was created by the children and parents of JDRF
to show their sincere gratitude for the courage put forth by significant
individuals who are helping to find a cure for diabetes and other
related diseases.
Each year the children of JDRF gather to create their own individual
artistic representation of love and appreciation. Each child is
asked simply to draw their interpretation of a heart. The result,
as each heart is framed together to be presented to the honoree's
Garth Brooks and Steve Wariner, is a masterpiece!
